Philip opened Philip Johnson Salon/Spa in 1992. Having previously trained in London, Amsterdam, and many educational institutions in the United States, Philip now focuses his time on training and promoting his service providers in their career paths, as well as, spending time behind the chair taking care of his regular clients. He has been involved in professional organizations locally and nationally and has served as educational director for the Missouri Cosmetology Association. Phil is a Level 5 stylist.
Susan started early in the hair industry as a shampoo assistant while attending high school in the Chicago suburbs. She went off to college at the University of Missouri – Columbia to gain her independence and graduated in 2003 with a degree in Textile and Apparel Management. After working at Anheuser-Busch for several years, Susan decided to follow her dream and attend cosmetology school. Susan graduated from Paul Mitchell the School St. Louis in 2009 and says she enjoys all aspects of the hair industry but truly loves color transformation. Susan genuinely cares about her clients and prides herself on being a great listener and friend to the people that sit in her chair. Susan is a Level 4 stylist.
Heather joined the Philip Johnson family at the age of 16, working as the Client Services Coordinator for over ten years before graduating from Paul Mitchell the School St. Louis in 2013. Heather is trained in Aveda and Paul Mitchell color systems and cutting techniques. Heather also loves to learn new things and is always on top of the latest trends with Aveda education. Heather has traveled to Los Angeles and studied with Vivienne Mackinder in styling techniques. Heather is a very passionate stylist and is excited to be part of the salon team. Heather is a Level 3 stylist.
Stylist & Barber
With a background in art and customer service, Amelia decided to take the best of both worlds and bring them together. Amelia is a graduate of Paul Mitchell the School St. Louis and most recently a graduate of E-clips Barber College. Her creativity and passion of bringing happiness to others gives her the opportunity to make each guest experience unique and memorable. Amelia loves being part of a constantly evolving industry and always takes advantage of any opportunity to learn new techniques. She has attended workshops with renowned stylists such as Vivienne Mackinder, Robert Cromeans and Kelly Cardenas. Having previously lived in Southern California and Vancouver, Amelia gained a fresh outlook on styles and trends. In her spare time, Amelia loves to travel, spend time with family and work with philanthropic causes and services. Amelia is a Level 3 stylist.
Elise is a graduate of Xenon International Academy in Ballwin, MO and is American Crew Certified. Elise spent the first three years of her career working at Ulta Beauty as a makeup consultant before transitioning to the stylist team. Her time spent at Ulta gave her the opportunity to learn about and work with a lot of different brands and products, which has been very beneficial. Elise says she loves being in an industry where she can be creative and make people feel beautiful at the same time and loves doing hair color and special occasion styles the most. Elise is a Level 2 stylist.
Kailyn is a graduate of Regency Beauty Institute in Fairview Heights, IL. She already has extensive knowledge of Aveda products and techniques from her time working at the Aveda Experience Center at St. Louis Galleria. Kailyn’s grandfather was a barber, which is where her love of hair comes from. Kailyn loves trying new techniques and color treatments with her guests. Kailyn is a Level 1 stylist.
Lauren loves when she can help build confidence in her clients and give them the beautiful complexion they are looking for. Lauren is a graduate of Xenon International Academy in Ballwin, MO. While there, she developed a passion for esthetics and cosmetology and a desire to help people transform their skin. One of Lauren’s biggest passions is makeup and she learned that great makeup starts with great skin. With a lot of hands-on experience, education and skin care seminars, Lauren has refined her knowledge of skin analysis and skin correction. Lauren has extensive training in Skinceuticals, Epionce, Bio Elements, Dermalogica and Aveda Skin Rituals. In early 2017, Lauren underwent training for microblading permanent cosmetics at Occhi Institute for Lash and Brow Training in Chicago, IL.
Isabelle began doing nails when she was very young, treating her mother to manicures when she was on siesta during her work day. Isabelle is originally from the French colony of Benin, West Africa, and speaks fluent French and English. Isabelle came to the United States and was a nail tech for Ellen’s Hair Place in Queens, New York for two years before coming to St. Louis. After arriving here, she worked as a nail technician for eight years at Bessard (now Selah) downtown on Washington Avenue. Isabelle does pedicures and manicures for men and women. She was trained at the Diva Unlimited Academy and is licensed in nails and cosmetology.
Mesha is a graduate of Missouri College Massage Therapy Program and says “I was born with a healing touch”, which can be backed by her loyal clientele. Mesha left the field of nursing, after being pressured by her mother, to pursue a career in massage therapy. She agrees it was the best choice she could have made. Massage is her passion, and she considers herself blessed and highly favored to have found her purpose at such a young age.
Josh comes from a background in customer service and has worked in salons in Ohio and Missouri. He has worked in different industries but always comes back to the salon/spa world. Josh loves working at Philip Johnson Salon/Spa because of the excellent staff and amazing, loyal clients. Having clients continually coming back for services puts a smile on his face. Josh strives to make every client experience fantastic, from the moment they walk in, until the moment they walk out.
Eric graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2007 with a B.S. degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. After graduating, Eric started his own freelance business, EightOne Creative, in 2008 that now offers an array of creative services to clients around the world. Eric joined our team in 2013 and since then, we have been named a 2015 Salon Today Top 200 Salon in the Technology category, won “Best Hair Salon” on the RFT Best of StL list and most recently we were named a STAMP (Salon Today Annual Marketing Program) Honoree for our 2016 Earth Month marketing campaign benefitting the National Audubon Society Clean Water Initiative.
